Apr. 2024: Google Report: Congress spends Rs. 18 Cr. and BJP Rs. 14 Cr. on advertisements

The Google Ads Transparency Centre reports that the Indian National Congress (INC) spent Rs 18 crore on Google ad campaigns during the general elections, from April 1, 2024 to April 26, 2024.

However, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) made the second-highest investment during that same period, behind the Congress Party, with Rs 14 Cr. The majority of the advertisements ran in many languages and starred Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

With around Rs 4 crore and the Telugu Desam Party of Andhra Pradesh with approximately Rs 1.5 crore, the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party lags behind. For its advertisements, Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has spent Rs 1.3 crore.

With Rs 17 crore spent on political advertisements on Google in April 2024, Tamil Nadu became the most popular destination, followed by Andhra Pradesh (Rs 6 crore) and Rajasthan (Rs 4 crore).

25% of political party spending has gone toward picture commercials, and the remaining 74.9% has gone toward text ads.
