Bhuvan Bam on his debut program Dhindora: “Wanted to create a web series as good as any OTT show”

What, therefore, makes Bhuvan Bam’s first web series for his YouTube account BB Ki Vines, called Dhindora, intriguing? It was actually the result of several characters who became well-known through Bam’s vines throughout time.

In the lighthearted television series Dhindora, the story of a dysfunctional family is used to illustrate the extravagant fantasies of the average man. Bam plays nine distinct roles in the show, which is directed by Himank Gaur and produced by Rohit Raj.

In addition, the YouTuber wrote the show’s lyrics and storyline and even performed a song. In just four days, the premiere episode garnered over 23 million views. It’s obvious that audiences connect with Bam’s material.

Bam took some time to gain popularity. This adaptable YouTuber has found great success in producing relatable content in a variety of genres, such as comedy videos and original songs.

afaqs! spoke with Bam on a Zoom call to find out more about Dhindora, the companies he wants to collaborate with, the YouTubers switching to OTT platforms, and other topics.

Revised passages:

What was Dhindora’s original concept? Could you walk us through the character development process and brainstorming sessions?

The original plan for Dhindora was a two-hour film. The audiences are now quite familiar with the series format because of OTT platforms. We so considered making episodes and releasing them over a period of eight weeks. The spectators would follow us through in this manner.

If it had been a movie, many would have watched it and then told others who hadn’t seen the spoilers.

Character development commenced far earlier, as Dhindora was initially conceived in 2017. Viewers are currently able to see it. Our goal was to produce a series that would be on par with those produced by OTT platforms.

Convincing the spectators that these are real people rather than merely fictional characters was a laborious procedure. Furthermore, multiple guys were portraying the various roles.

You’ve had great success with the concept of using numerous characters to tell stories. Did you anticipate the level of popularity this kind of storytelling would gain?

For some, watching someone portray several personas is a fascinating experience. However, I’m used to playing them and don’t consider popularity when I make this decision. I look at it from an entertainment perspective. In this manner, the narrative is accessible, the humor fits in, and the substance is enjoyable for all. I believe that only when all these boxes are checked will I succeed and Dhindora become a success.

It’s a common misconception that opinions don’t matter. Views are very important since they ultimately indicate how many people have been impacted by your work. Looking at the views and the types of replies we’ve been receiving makes us feel extremely wonderful. The crowds appear to be comfortable with this format and eager for more.
